Paul has worked in the education sector for 15 years. Halfway through my career I discovered that I really enjoyed using Technology in my teaching. This love for technology enabled me to share my passion with my students and I changed my subject specialisation to ICT and Programming. I haven’t looked back.
In terms of job demand, IT roles are at the top. Employers are desperately looking for advanced technical skills, along with strong problem-solving ability. Employers are also looking for individuals who display initiative, are eager to learn and can adapt to change quickly. Resilience is a key trait a person needs to possess in the IT field.
There are varied careers within the IT field. Network Engineer, Software Developer, Cybersecurity Specialist, and many more.
If you want to pursue IT as a career, you will need to study for at least a Higher Certificate in Information Technology. However, your earning potential, knowledge and skills of IT concepts will improve exponentially if you complete a degree in Computer Science.
Your skill set will vary depending on what field you choose to follow in IT.
